Terms of Service

These terms cover the WASH AI Link Shortener specifically. Last updated May 29, 2026.

In short: shorten links to WASH resources, optionally contribute them to WASH AI’s knowledge base, and don’t abuse the service. Shortening a link doesn’t make it yours, and rights holders can have their resources transferred or removed.

1. Acceptance

The WASH AI Link Shortener (the “Service”) is operated by WASH AI. By using it — with or without an account — you agree to these Terms. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the Service. These Terms are specific to the Service and complement WASH AI’s general Terms and Privacy Policy; where they conflict on a topic covered here, these Terms govern the Service.

2. The Service

The Service creates short links that redirect to a destination URL, and optionally hosts files you upload so they can be shared via a short link. It is provided free of charge. We may change, suspend, or discontinue any part of it at any time.

3. Acceptable use

You agree not to use the Service to create links to, or host:

  • illegal, infringing, or fraudulent content;
  • malware, phishing, or content designed to deceive or harm others;
  • spam, or links distributed through unsolicited messaging;
  • content that is hateful, harassing, or sexually exploitative.

You also agree not to circumvent rate limits or otherwise abuse, overload, or attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service. We may remove links and suspend access for any violation.

4. Accounts

You can use the Service anonymously. Creating a free account lets you track clicks, create custom links, and manage your links. You’re responsible for activity under your account. To keep things fair, anonymous use is limited to 10 links per minute per IP address, and signed-in users to 1,000 links per day; these limits may change.

5. Link ownership & resource rights

Shortening a URL, or uploading a file, does not grant you any ownership of the destination, the resource, or the underlying content. You represent that you have the right to share whatever a link points to or that you upload.

A short link is a pointer, not a claim of ownership. If a signed-in user claims or creates a short link to a domain, resource, or document they don’t own, we may, on request and after reasonable verification, transfer that short link to the verified owner of the domain, resource, or document — or remove it. This is the key way the Service differs from WASH AI’s general terms: here, rights in the underlying resource always stay with that resource’s owner, and the short link follows them.

6. Contributing to WASH AI’s knowledge base

When you tick “Contribute towards WASH AI’s knowledge,” you confirm you have the right to share that resource and you grant WASH AI a non-exclusive license to fetch, store, index, and openly cite it as part of WASH AI’s knowledge base, with attribution. We do not use your links or their content to train AI models. If you leave the box unchecked, the resource is not contributed — you simply get a short link. You can request removal of a contributed resource at any time.

7. Links don’t expire — but we may remove them

Short links don’t expire and keep working for as long as we run the Service. We may, however, disable or remove any link that violates these Terms, is subject to a valid takedown or legal request, or that a verified rights holder asks us to remove.

8. Privacy

Your data is stored on servers in the European Union. We never sell your data and never share it with third parties. See WASH AI’s Privacy Policy and our FAQs for details.

9. Third-party destinations & disclaimer

Short links lead to third-party sites and resources we don’t control and aren’t responsible for. The Service is provided “as is,” without warranties of any kind. To the fullest extent permitted by law, WASH AI is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service.

10. Changes & contact

We may update these Terms; material changes will be reflected by the “last updated” date above. Questions, takedown requests, or ownership claims: support@washai.org.
